Whinlatter

Distance: 3 miles - 2 hours

Whinlatter offers a gorgeous forest dog walk, showcasing many shades of green regardless of the season. The lack of roads makes it a peaceful escape, with plenty of opportunities for your dog to drink water along the way. You won’t encounter livestock, so your dog can roam more freely. Facilities include toilets and a café to stop for refreshments.

Aira Force Dog Walk

Aira Force

Distance: 2.5 miles - 1.5 hours

Begin your dog friendly walk in the charming National Trust gardens before following the river to a stunning waterfall. Please note that sheep may be grazing in some areas, so keeping your dog on a lead is advised. There’s plenty of fresh water for your dog to drink along the way. At the car park, you’ll find toilets and a tearoom.

Lowther Castle

This beautiful visitor attraction boasts impressive gardens that were once the envy of the North. Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must remain on a lead at all times. However, dogs aren’t allowed inside the Lost Castle adventure playground.

Distance: 2 miles - 1 hour

Gummers How is a gentle hill walk perfect for the whole family, situated in the southern part of the Lake District. It’s one of Wainwright’s outlying fells, offering panoramic views and a relatively easy climb.

Keswick Lakeside Walk

Distance: 3 miles - 1.5 hours

This scenic walk around the shores of Derwentwater offers stunning views of the surrounding fells and is perfect for a leisurely stroll with your dog. The mostly flat route takes you through peaceful woodlands and along the lakeside, with plenty of spots to stop for a picnic or to admire the scenery. It's an ideal choice for dog owners looking for an easy, picturesque walk in the heart of the Lake District. If you’re feeling more adventurous, the full loop around Derwentwater is approximately 10 miles and can take around 4 hours to complete.
